Great Lakes Health Information Exchange Partners with ModuleMD

Home > Blogs > Industry News

Lansing, April 10, 2013 - ModuleMD announces the partnership with Great Lake Health Information Exchange (GLHIE) as a strategic alliance in electronically connecting physician practices with health care systems. Because of the meaningful use requirements of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009, health information exchanges are rapidly growing. Health Information Exchanges (HIE) provide the capability of sharing clinical information electronically among disparate electronic health record (EHR) systems.

As a Michigan-based company, ModuleMD provides a flexible electronic health record to independent physician practices nationally. Based on EHR certification requirements from CMS, ModuleMD has taken steps forward to share patient data between physician practices and health care systems. Jacqueline Otto, Director of Sales and Marketing for ModuleMD explains, "With today's need for better healthcare outcomes in the community, it is our vision to continue to expand the ModuleMD enterprise solution that makes the tasks for interoperability, data exchange and analytics intuitive and cost-effective."While the goal of an HIE is to facilitate access to clinical data in a safe, timely, efficient manner, the partnership of ModuleMD GLHIE makes sense, in order to minimize the costs to physician practices. Lloyd Williams, COO of ModuleMD states, "Our Company is uniquely positioned in the EHR market with the technology capability to integrate solutions and services on a transparent platform that benefits providers, patients and the community at large." With this technology vision, ModuleMD will easily integrate and interface with other state and sub HIEs, as it has already started to do, to facilitate data exchange that is of value to its customers and the community.

The partnership between ModuleMD and GLHIE is a step in that direction. Lloyd Williams continues, "Our experience of working with GLHIE has been extremely positive and believe that GLHIE's goals and vision for the community are closely aligned with that of ModuleMD. This relationship and integration with GLHIE will give any of our current and future customers easy access to patient clinical and demographic information through GLHIE."
